A beautiful red wedding
Nikki and Brian got married on 14th May 2016. Nikki came to me for her bridal makeup, through my Facebook page where we discussed her needs and then arranged a trial.
I went to Nikki’s home for her makeup trial where I got to know a bit about her and briefly met her fiancé, who quickly escaped to avoid too many girly chats! I could tell straight away that they were made for each other. Sometimes I just get that feeling, on the odd occasion that I meet the other half, that this wedding is meant to be. Nikki still smiled and blushed when talking about Brian so I knew she was head over heels for him!
Nikki only had one absolute ‘must’ when it came to her bridal makeup, Winged Eyeliner. A girl after my own heart! I don’t usually make eyeliner a big feature for brides,
to avoid it looking to ‘fashion like’ but I knew Nikki wouldn’t be content without it! We created a soft bridal smokey eye with a strong wing, glowing skin and a warm lip. Nikki’s colour scheme was red so we decided not to go to crazy with the lip colour as we were making the eyes the main feature.
The run up
Nikki and I were in touch up until the wedding date, so she knew I was on hand if she needed any advice, and equally to keep me up to date of any changes. Numbers for makeup gradually increased on the run up to the big day but this wasn’t a problem at all! I arrived an hour earlier than planned, to attend to Nikki’s bridal party, so we had plenty of time to get everyone ready.
The Big Day!
The wedding morning was lovely and calm, something I pride myself in helping to achieve. A local hairdresser, Lizzie Haines was there to style Nikki’s hair as well as help one of her bridesmaids who was styling the other girls hair. After a couple of glasses of bubbly, Nikki’s nerves began to settle and she transformed into a beautiful bride. Her gorgeous son Ashton was as good as gold, who I’m sure looked very dapper in his suit!
She requested a slightly smokier look than what we had created at the trial, and I was only too happy to oblige. She carried off the look so well! The maids in their red dresses really complemented Nikki’s hair, as did her gorgeous roses, with peacock feathers! So unusual yet so stunning! As for her face… hasn’t she got one of the sweetest you’ve ever seen! She was a pleasure to make up! You’ll find some of the before and after shots in my gallery.
Nikki lives locally to me so I hope to bump into her again in the future! I wish her and her husband a long and happy marriage and thank her for choosing me as her makeup artist.0
